Submitted Feb 28 in Announcements
As was announced on Friday, 26-Feb-2010, Wolfstar had the rather unpleasant and unfortunate experience of losing multiple servers with less than one full day's notice. We were leasing some dedicated servers in Denver, Colorado, and the hosting company went out of business. The liquidators came in and seized all of their assets, leaving us virtually no time to move user accounts and data. (I contacted the liquidators to protest, and was told that they had given 30 days notice. Strange, but I have no such notice in my email, nor was anything posted on the provider's web site. Of course, what possible reason would the liquidators have to care about our users...)
Wolfstar does have other dedicated and VPS servers located in different areas, and right now we're making decisions about where to move what. We're also in negotiations with some new providers. Please continue to bear with us as this gets sorted out.
Based on user feedback to my last post, we will continue offering email services. As previously stated, I have no intention of resuming web hosting in the immediate future, although I'm in discussions with some providers to find a solution on this. As you know, Wolfstar ceased business operations and reverted to "hobby" status back in 2009. We are, however, trying to keep options open for how to proceed in the future -- including the possibility of resuming business operations under a new model. Right now, it will remain a closed shop providing service to friends and family. Remember, we offer absolutely no warranty, and the services right now are provided "as is."
This is the second upstream provider failure we've endured in less than 6 months. I'm still a bit gun-shy at this point, but I'm trying to forge ahead. I'd like to thank the user community for offering their support in this difficult time, and I promise to keep you posted as the situation develops.
Thank you!
